Emily is Away Too is a visual novel and the sequel to Emily is Away. in it, you play as yourself, or someone like you, talking to friends on EOL Instant Messenger. This obvious parody of AOL is meant to take players back to 2006, right before the Internet truly grew. You can share pages and video links with your friends. And unlike the original Emily is Away, there's multiple characters to talk and multiple endings.
Trick And Tragedy
At first, Emily is Away Too invites you to get to know Emily and Evelyn, the two major characters that you can ultimately date in the game. Dating isn't the soul focus though: you also browse old-looking Facebook and YouTube pages, change your avatar, customize your text colour, and do all of this in an interface reminiscent of Windows XP. Many things about the game are a throwback to an older era of the Internet, but the various endings, and outcomes both good and bad, are different and reflective of how modern visual novels often work.
Were You Ever Away, Too/
You'll probably enjoy Emily is Away Too the most if you grew up as a teenager on the Internet in the mid-2000s. For a lot of people who did, this game goes straight to the heart. For others, it might be a bit less meaningful. And it's important to remember: lying never pays off.
